It is worth noting that God did not require the tribal leaders of Israel to bring offerings for the dedication of the Tabernacle; it was their personal decision to do so. Likely, one leader suggested the idea, and others agreed or supported it. Friends, consider whether your advice about glorifying God is genuinely aimed at honouring Him or merely gratifying your flesh.
On another note, scripture states that Ahira, son of Enan, brought a young bull, a ram, and a one-year-old male lamb as a burnt offering. Interestingly, these offerings from Ahira and other tribal leaders exceeded the typical requirements outlined in Leviticus 1:3-17. The possible reason for this generous act ties to the purpose of the offerings—they were meant for purification and to make individuals right with God.
Additionally, these animals could not be purchased; they had to be taken from the leaders’ own herds. Hence, Ahira and the other tribal leaders brought animals directly from their personal herds, demonstrating that there was nothing they wouldn’t do to restore their relationship with God.
Friends, remember that Jesus has already paid the price for this right relationship with God; therefore, nothing from your coffer or other earthly things is necessary for salvation. Let us embrace the grace freely offered through Jesus Christ.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I acknowledge that I cannot surpass the profound sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross at Calvary, where He willingly bore the sins of humanity and demonstrated ultimate love. Yet I pray that I will never consider any gift or act of devotion too great or too much to offer You in gratitude and reverence. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
