“He also brought a gold container weighing four ounces, which was filled with incense.”
An act of sincere devotion
Like other tribal leaders, Ahira, son of Enan, did not lend the gold container he brought as part of his offerings to Moses. Instead, he presented it and willingly relinquished ownership to God, demonstrating complete surrender. This we know because he did not ask Moses to pour out the contents and then return the gold container; instead, he gave both the container and the incense inside. Friends, have you fully surrendered all to Jesus? The ‘all’ here signifies your entire life—every part of your being.
Another lesson is that Ahira, along with other tribal leaders who presented their dedication offerings, did not attach any conditions to their gold containers filled with choice incense. Their offerings were not transactional or contingent upon any exchange. This genuine generosity was rooted in their unwavering confidence in God, who knows their needs intimately and is faithful to meet them for His glory, without neglect. Friends, don’t treat your offering as a transaction. Remember, the woman with two mites didn’t put them in the treasury in the Temple as an exchange for anything, but as an act of sincere devotion.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask that my attitude consistently reflect complete surrender to You. May I never withhold any part of myself, my thoughts, or my actions from Your divine guidance. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
