CHORISTERS

We are excited to announce updates to our choir ministry, designed to strengthen our service to God and operate with excellence, not perfection, for His glory. This Code of Conduct serves as a guide to help us maintain unity, respect, and a spirit of worship in our ministry.

1. Excellence, Not Perfection
As Philippians 4:8 reminds us, our focus is on whatever is true, noble, pure, and praiseworthy.
– We are committed to offering our best in worship, trusting God to perfect the work we do for Him.
– Members are encouraged to practice regularly at home and during rehearsals to strive for excellence.

2. Respectful and Edifying Worship
– Song Selection: All songs must align with biblical principles, reflect God’s love, and be edifying to the congregation. Songs that appear to mock others, including the dead (e.g., *”Enia lo Kole Alaja Mefa to Jade Laye”), are strictly prohibited.
– Spiritual Sensitivity*: Our songs should glorify God, minister grace to listeners, and align with the Holy Spirit’s leading.

3. Unity and Harmony
– Each member must indicate their voice part—Soprano, Alto, Tenor, or Bass to ensure organized and harmonious ministration.
– Choir rehearsals are mandatory, except for valid excuses communicated in advance. Failure to attend rehearsals may result in the member being unable to minister on stage.
– Members must work towards a unified sound, avoiding individualism or seeking personal recognition during ministrations.

4. Spiritual Readiness
– As ministers, choir members must be spiritually prepared. Participation in regular spiritual activities, including personal devotions and corporate prayer sessions, is mandatory.
– The church Leaders will conduct spiritual screenings for all members, ensuring alignment with the ministry’s mission and values.

Holy Living: Members are expected to live an exemplary Christian lives, avoiding behavior that contradicts the faith. This includes refraining from gossip, disrespect, or unkindness within and outside the ministry.

5. Commitment to Growth
– Members are encouraged to develop their musical skills by attending workshops, training, or lessons to improve their vocal ability or instrument proficiency.
– Constructive feedback during rehearsals should be embraced to help individual and group improvement.

6. Conduct During Services and Rehearsals
– Punctuality is essential. Arrive by *10:30 AM* for sound check and pre-service rehearsals.
– Disruptive behavior during rehearsals, including excessive talking or distractions, is not allowed.
– Dress appropriately, modestly, and in line with choir guidelines for every ministration.

7. Respect and Love for Others
– Romans 12:10 calls us to honor one another above ourselves. Members must demonstrate respect for choir leaders, fellow members, and the congregation.
– Avoid using harsh or judgmental language; speak with love and patience.
– Treat every choir member equally, regardless of their level of experience or skill.

8. Attendance and Commitment
– Members are required to be present for all rehearsals, services, and special programs unless they have prior permission to be absent.
– Excessive absences or lateness without valid reasons may result in disciplinary actions, including suspension from ministrations.
– Active participation in other church activities, including Bible study and prayer meetings, is encouraged to foster spiritual growth and integration into the church body.

9. Backup Singers Schedule
– A schedule for backup singers will ensure everyone is adequately prepared and no one is overburdened.
– If unavailable or late, notify the group in advance to allow for smooth adjustments.

10. Use of Technology and Choir Resources
– Respect church equipment, such as microphones, instruments, and sound systems. Mishandling or unauthorized use is prohibited.
– Members are encouraged to familiarize themselves with basic use of microphones and stage etiquette.
– Phones must be silenced during rehearsals and ministrations unless being used for ministry purposes.

11. Conflict Resolution
– Disputes or misunderstandings among choir members should be resolved privately and with humility.
– If unresolved, involve the choir coordinator or spiritual leader for guidance.
– Gossiping or spreading discord is strictly prohibited.

12. Application for New Members
– Prospective choir members must complete an application form and undergo spiritual screening before joining rehearsals or ministrations.
– A mentorship process will be introduced for new members to help them understand the expectations and integrate smoothly into the group.

13. Personal Responsibility
– Members are expected to take care of their health to preserve their voices and overall performance.
– Avoid practices that could harm your vocal cords, such as screaming or straining unnecessarily.
– Regular vocal exercises and hydration are recommended for all choir members.

14. Accountability and Disciplinary Measures
– Choir members are accountable to the choir coordinator and church leadership.
– Any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct may lead to disciplinary action, including counseling, suspension, or removal from the ministry, as deemed necessary by leadership.

Let us continue to offer our voices as instruments of praise and thanksgiving, honoring God with our lives and service. Together, we can minister effectively and glorify His name.

Thank you for your commitment and dedication to this ministry. May God bless and guide us as we serve Him.
