Numbers 7:58 NLT
“and a male goat for a sin offering.”
A sin offering
Admittance of fault is a virtuous ideal that everyone must embrace. The fact that Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur from the tribe of Manasseh, brought a male goat as a sin offering indicates that he did not see himself as a saint but recognized himself as a sinner in need of divine redemption. Notably, he did not delegate anyone else to bring the animal on his behalf; he personally carried out the act. This personal effort exemplifies humility. Friends, it takes humility to acknowledge one’s sinful nature and seek God’s forgiveness. Importantly, forgiveness with God is available to all and requires no offering of a male goat or any physical sacrifice; rather, it demands complete surrender and genuine repentance.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask for Your forgiveness for my sins, which were paid for by the blood of Jesus Christ. I repent of my wrongdoings and seek Your grace and mercy. Amen.
