“For a peace offering he brought two bulls, five rams, five male goats, and five one-year-old male lambs. This was the offering brought by Gamaliel son of Pedahzur.”
For a peace offering
When people seek attention from others—whether from those in positions of power or from individuals who possess what they desire—they often go to great lengths, buying gifts or organizing social gatherings on their behalf. They tend to forget that these people’s influence is not everlasting. In fact, the individuals they try to please may not even acknowledge them. Yet instead of changing course, they continue to do the same thing.
In the referenced scripture, we read that Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur, brought these animals to Moses, not for Moses’s use, but to engender peace with God. There is a strong reason to believe that Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur, understood that God does not underestimate or overlook sincere acts of love and devotion. As a result, he chose to make an offering that exceeded the norm, seeking to demonstrate genuine commitment. He prioritized peace with and in God over merely pursuing harmony with humans. Friends, with whom are you striving to achieve peace—are you seeking it from God or from man?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask for Your guidance to direct my thoughts and keep me focused solely on You. Help me to deeply appreciate and cherish the peace and serenity I find in You through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, my Saviour, whose love and grace sustain me every day. Amen.
