Strong Tower: A Daily Scripture Reflection

Numbers 11:1 NLT
“Soon the people began to complain about their hardship, and the LORD heard everything they said. Then the LORD’s anger blazed against them, and he sent a fire to rage among them, and he destroyed some of the people in the outskirts of the camp.”
Where do you live?
Living within the camp is not the same as living on its outskirts. In the same way, are you living within God’s will for your life, or at its edges? In the referenced scripture, the Lord’s anger burned, and some living on the outskirts of the camp were caught in the judgment. Yet not everyone received it. Why were some spared while others were not? Perhaps those who were spared recognized their wrongdoing and repented because God is not unjust and would never take the life of a repentant sinner as a warning to those who persist in sin.
Another important point is that the people are described neither as the people of Israel nor as God’s people. This was because of their unjustified complaint against the Lord. Friends, complaining distances us from God’s divine covering. Rather than complain, bring your supplications before God.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, forgive me for every way I have sinned against You or grieved You. For the sake of Jesus and His shed blood, have mercy on me and spare me from judgment. Guide my thoughts, words, and actions by the leading of the Holy Spirit, and help me remain faithful to Your will. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
