Strong Tower: A Daily Scripture Reflection

Numbers 11:8 NLT
“The people would go out and gather it from the ground. They made flour by grinding it with hand mills or pounding it in mortars. Then they boiled it in a pot and made it into flat cakes. These cakes tasted like pastries baked with olive oil.”

No stress
Scripture teaches that the Lord is good, and goodness has always been part of His character. It is evident in all He does. The Israelites did not have to wait until they reached the Promised Land to experience it. Consider the manna: they neither produced it nor planted it. Each day, they went out and gathered what they needed. This reflects the scripture that says the Lord’s blessing adds no sorrow. Gathering manna involved no burden or hardship. They did not have to climb trees or mountains; it lay on the ground, and everyone could access it. In this way, no one had an advantage—everyone had the same opportunity. The Lord also left them free to prepare the manna in different ways. They could grind or pound it and boil it. When they made it into cakes, it tasted like pastries baked with olive oil, even though they used no olive oil. God provided food that was both nourishing and adaptable to their needs. Just as He did for the people of Israel, He does so today and always will. Your needs are not beyond God’s scope.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, please forgive me for not fully recognizing and appreciating the depth of Your love, care, and presence in my life, or the many blessings You generously provide each day. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
