Strong Tower: A Daily Scripture Reflection

Numbers 11:7 NLT
“The manna looked like small coriander seeds, and it was pale yellow like gum resin.”
Gracious God
When the Israelites complained, “All we ever see is this manna,” their words may suggest that the food was unpleasant. Scripture, however, paints a different picture: manna looked like coriander seed and tasted like cakes made with oil. It was also compared to bdellium, a fragrant resin. These descriptions suggest that manna was not inherently unappealing. The complaint came from the people, not from God. Yet because they craved meat, they rejected the provision that had sustained them. Friends, deep down, you cannot honestly say that the Lord has not been good. Don’t let present desires cause you to overlook the blessings and benefits you have received—and continue to receive—from Him.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, every gift You give is good and worthy of gratitude. Help me receive Your gifts without scorn or resentment, and remain thankful even when my present needs feel unmet. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
