Numbers 10:35 NLT
“And whenever the Ark set out, Moses would shout, “Arise, O LORD, and let your enemies be scattered! Let them flee before you!””

Whenever the Ark set out
It is important to distinguish between what the Lord commands and what a person does in response to faith. In the passage, we read: “Whenever the Ark set out, Moses would shout, ‘Arise, O LORD, and let your enemies be scattered! Let them flee before you!’” The account describes this as a repeated practice: whenever the Ark set out, Moses said these words. Yet Scripture does not record the Lord instructing Moses to say them; instead, they appear to be Moses’s own prayer to God. Perhaps he prayed this way because he understood God’s character. Friend, are your prayers aligned with God’s character? Notice that Moses did not ask God to destroy His enemies. He asked that they scatter and flee before Him—a distinction that reflects the belief that God takes no pleasure in the death of a sinner. Another lesson is that Moses’s words, spoken in response to his faith, are worth emulating. Can the same be said of you and me?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me represent Your character and intentions truthfully in my prayers, and keep me from attributing to You thoughts, words, or motives that are not Yours. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
