Numbers 10:35 NLT
“And when the Ark was set down, he would say, “Return, O LORD, to the countless thousands of Israel!””
Return, O LORD, to the countless thousands of Israel
As children of God, we must always demonstrate selflessness conscientiously because the Maker of heaven and earth didn’t call us to selfishness. One of the many ways to demonstrate this is through our prayers. In the referenced Scripture, we read that Moses was not selfish in his prayer. We know this because he always prayed that the LORD return to the countless thousands of Israel. Moses didn’t monopolize God’s presence because he didn’t pray that the Lord return to him alone; instead, he prayed that the presence of the Most High God be known throughout the house of Israel. Friends, saying “God bless you” to another person instead of “God bless us” doesn’t mean you are careless or that God will bypass you when He blesses. Remember that in Numbers 6:23-26, the priest, when blessing the people of Israel, used “you,” and no part of the rendition says “us.” So, do you think the One who commanded them to use “you” instead of “us” will not bless them? Don’t pray by the world’s standards, but in alignment with God’s Word. Remember, Scripture didn’t say Moses lost God’s presence because he failed to monopolize the Lord’s presence in his prayers.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please forgive me for the times I have allowed selfish desires or concerns to take precedence over prayer. Help me to pray rightly, with a heart attentive to Your words and aligned with Your will. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
