Numbers 9:9-10 NLT
This was the Lord’s reply to Moses. “Give the following instructions to the people of Israel: If any of the people now or in future generations are ceremonially unclean at Passover time because of touching a dead body, or if they are on a journey and cannot be present at the ceremony, they may still celebrate the Lord’s Passover.”
God listens closely and responds quickly
When Moses instructed the men who were ceremonially unclean because they had touched a dead body and couldn’t participate in the Passover to “wait here” while he sought divine guidance, he demonstrated unwavering trust in God’s ability to provide clear and immediate direction. As soon as Moses approached God, the Lord responded promptly. Friends, the same God who answered Moses is still the same today—He listens and responds when we call on Him, as Jeremiah 33:3 reminds us. Through His reply, we learn that the Passover was specifically for Israel, explaining why outsiders do not observe it. Yet, anyone who believes in Jesus as their Lord and Saviour is already a Passover participant. The divine response also shows that God’s guidance extends beyond that moment—it includes future provisions. Even travellers facing obstacles can be hopeful because God has already anticipated these challenges. The Lord’s declaration that even those with travel difficulties could still celebrate the Passover reveals His compassion, turning uncertainty into an inspiring message of hope and reassurance.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You are a loving and compassionate God who never leaves His children in darkness. I pray that You will continually speak to me, guiding my thoughts and actions, especially during times of confusion when I need Your clarity and wisdom most. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
