Numbers 9:8 NLT
Moses answered, “Wait here until I have received instructions for you from the Lord.”
Wait here
The manner in which you articulate a concern significantly influences the nature of the response you receive. Consider the men who were unable to observe the Passover due to being ceremonially unclean from contact with a dead body; had they responded with hostility or hostility directed toward Moses, the response might have taken a different tone. However, these individuals did not perceive Moses as a barrier to their participation in the Passover observance. Friends, let’s be civil and respectful in how we present our concerns at any point, anywhere, and to anyone, recognizing the importance of tone and approach.
Another important lesson worth emulating is that Moses did not dismiss their concerns; Scripture explicitly says he instructed them to “wait here” until he obtained divine guidance regarding their issue. Right in their presence, Moses went to speak with the Lord, demonstrating transparency and trust. Moses didn’t need last-minute consecration or ritual purification to prepare for the Lord’s presence, highlighting his confidence and spiritual readiness. In the same vein, Moses was certain the Lord would give decisive, clear direction regarding their request, implying that he trusted the Lord’s guidance to be reliable and never to fail.
It is also noteworthy that Moses did not have a fallback plan like convening a committee, holding consultations, or debating among themselves; instead, he turned directly to God, the ultimate authority who instituted the Passover and alone possesses the divine authority to determine what is acceptable within its observance. Friends, it is crucial to have complete trust in the Lord, knowing that He will never disappoint anyone who sincerely seeks His instructions in any matter, big or small.
