Strong Tower: A Daily Scripture Reflection

Wednesday, August 12, 2026

Numbers 9:7 NLT
“and said, “We have become ceremonially unclean by touching a dead body. But why should we be prevented from presenting the Lord’s offering at the proper time with the rest of the Israelites?”

Plead for God’s mercy
It is quite common for individuals to deny their faults or seek a scapegoat to blame for their struggles. However, the scripture referenced reveals that the men acknowledged their ceremonial uncleanliness, explicitly stating, “we have become ceremonially unclean by touching a dead body.” This honest admission indicates their awareness of their sin and impurity, highlighting their humility and recognition of their situation. Another key lesson from this passage is that despite their impurity, these men still desired to present offerings to the Lord, demonstrating their sincere devotion. However, they were aware that their unclean state prohibited them from doing so, reflecting the importance of purity in worship. Despite this, they approached Moses and Aaron to plead for consideration, seeking mercy and acceptance. Interestingly, if the Lord were not merciful, there would have been no reason for the ceremonially unclean men to consult Moses and Aaron about their status. This suggests their hope in God’s compassion. Friends, God is merciful, and this characteristic has always defined His nature and will never change. Therefore, let us approach the throne of grace confidently, trusting that we will obtain mercy, and be grateful for His unwavering compassion.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly approach You today, seeking Your boundless mercy and compassion in my moments of need. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
