At the prescribed time
Love is more profoundly understood when it is demonstrated through actions. One of the most compelling ways—if not the only way—to prove genuine love is by approaching endeavours in the manner that the recipient prefers. In the referenced scripture, the Lord instructed Moses to observe the Passover, commemorating their deliverance from Egyptian bondage. This illustrates that God does not oppose celebrations; rather, the key question is whether we celebrate only what He authorizes. An equally important lesson is that the celebration of the Passover must occur precisely at the time prescribed by the Lord, emphasizing the importance of timing and obedience.
Friends, to ensure our efforts are not in vain—even those endeavours undertaken to honour God—it is crucial to follow His instructions exactly, without adding or deviating from what He desires. For example, Rebecca told Jacob she would prepare a meal in the manner her father loved, demonstrating the significance of doing things according to specific preferences. Friends, are you engaging in your endeavours based on His terms and conditions, or are you imposing your own? The former earns God’s commendation, while the latter risks condemnation. Therefore, choose wisely and purposefully.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me always to pursue the endeavours You approve of, and to do them in accordance with Your guidelines. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
