A significant milestone
It’s common for us to believe that some difficult situations may never end, especially if they have persisted for a long time. This was the case for the people of Israel when Pharaoh’s oppressive rule made their lives miserable, enslaving them and forcing hard labour. They concluded there was no hope for divine intervention or deliverance. Interestingly, the same people who once doubted the possibility of freedom celebrated their first anniversary of liberation from the Egyptians and many more subsequent milestones. Friends, the same God who brought them out of bondage will also cause you and me to celebrate milestones of freedom from any challenging situation we face.
Another important point is that God’s communication with Moses on the anniversary of Israel’s departure from Egypt was not coincidental. It demonstrates that God remembers every significant moment in His people’s history and does not need anyone to remind Him of what He has done. This signifies that God’s care and attention do not cease after granting His people freedom from oppression; rather, He continues to observe and guide them.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, You granted the people of Israel their first anniversary of liberation from Egypt, a milestone celebrated with joy and gratitude, and many more anniversaries since then. Please, in Your infinite mercy, grant me countless anniversaries over any and every situation that troubles my mind, bringing me peace and clarity. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
