Numbers 8:8 NLT
“Have them bring a young bull and a grain offering of choice flour moistened with olive oil, along with a second young bull for a sin offering.”
Have them bring
In the referenced scripture, we read that grain and sin offerings were integral parts of the ceremonial rituals of purification specifically designated for the Levites. As with any offerings under the Old Covenant, the Lord required the Levites to bring certain prescribed materials. Notably, the request for two young bulls and high-quality grain mixed with olive oil was intended collectively for all the Levites, not for each individual. Through these details, we gain valuable insights for everyday living. First, the Lord is not driven by bloodlust; if that were the case, the instruction might have been that each Levite personally present two young bulls. Second, God did not communicate directly with the Levites but spoke through Moses, who held delegated authority to relay divine instructions. If Moses had compromised his integrity, relaying these commands would not have been problematic; however, the Levites might have disregarded such instructions. Friends, can God rely on you to influence others toward righteousness as He relied on Moses?
