Numbers 7:7 NLT
“He gave two wagons and four oxen to the Gershonite division for their work,”
To the Gershonite division
To this day, everyone agrees that Moses was the one responsible for distributing the gifts the tribal leaders of Israel brought to the front of the Tabernacle; he carried out this task faithfully. If Moses hadn’t handled this responsibility with such care, our perception of him might be quite different—likely like what we see today, and until Jesus returns. Let’s take to heart the importance of being responsible and diligent in every divine task we are given. It’s also inspiring to note that Moses was not only available for the big, prominent tasks, but also for the small, humble duties. He did them all in such a humble and dedicated way that no one could tell the difference in his effort.
Moreover, Moses provided the Gershonite workers with two wagons and four oxen—not just for appearance, but specifically to help with their duties related to the Tabernacle. These included transporting, caring for, and assembling parts like the curtains, the main tent, the outer covering, and the entrance screen. These efforts ensured the sacred space was well-maintained and functioning properly. Moses didn’t keep these gifts for himself but made them available to the people God entrusted to him.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me ensure that my effort in carrying out all divine tasks remains consistent. I pray that I do not hinder anything meant to ease others’ lives and service in Your vineyard. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
