“On the fifth day Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai, leader of the tribe of Simeon, presented his offering.”
On the fifth day, and not the fifth person
Everyone desires to achieve the top position in a meaningful endeavour, and in pursuit of this goal, many eagerly rush to secure their place. A careful examination of the referenced scripture reveals that Shelumiel was not caught up in such haste. It is crucial to pay attention to the phrase “on the fifth day,” as it provides valuable insights for living a patient and purposeful life. This phrase distinctly indicates the timing of the event, unlike “the fifth person,” which denotes an individual’s rank or order among others. The fact that Moses specifically mentions the day Shelumiel offered his sacrifice, rather than labelling him as the fifth person in line, is highly significant. It underscores that from God’s perspective, Shelumiel was not late in fulfilling his obligation. Friend, if your turn hasn’t come yet, understand that it does not mean you are behind or delayed; timing according to God’s divine schedule may differ from human expectations.
