Numbers 7:33 NLT
“He brought a young bull, a ram, and a one-year-old male lamb for a burnt offering, and a male goat for a sin offering.”

Leaving a legacy of good examples
Every detail in scripture is purposeful. When it comes to the animals offered for the burnt offering, there’s a reason behind every choice. The bull was a young male, about 2 or 3 years old, with a strong, mature build. The lamb was a one-year-old male, fully developed and ready for sacrifice. Elizur’s deliberate selection of these animals shows he followed specific standards.

If he had chosen animals outside these age ranges—like an older or younger bull or lamb—they would have been seen as inappropriate or even unacceptable in the eyes of the Lord. This highlights how Elizur strictly adhered to the Lord’s commandments, which Moses confirmed as right and acceptable.

Leadership isn’t just about holding a title; it’s about setting a positive example for others. Elizur’s actions are undeniably commendable, raising the bar so high that no one in his tribe of Rueben could excuse themselves from doing the same. Friends, are you leaving a legacy of good examples for others to follow?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, ignite in me a passionate resolve to approach everything I do with unwavering conscientiousness, so that through all my efforts, I can inspire others to come to You with humility. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
