Numbers 7:28 NLT
“and a male goat for a sin offering.”
Don’t ignore blind spots
In the offering presented by Eliab, son of Helon, we can draw several lessons. First, he was clearly aware of the importance of aligning himself properly with God, which is why a male goat, not a female, was offered for the sin offering. Notably, it was Eliab, not Moses, who explicitly designated the male goat for this purpose. This clarification eliminated any potential misunderstanding about its intended use. By making this clear, Eliab strengthened the priest’s ability to correctly perform their task concerning the male goat. The provision of a male goat shows that Eliab, son of Helon, was not interested in leaving no stone unturned, particularly regarding unintentional sins, but was ready to seek forgiveness to maintain a pure relationship with God.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please deliver me from every sin that easily besets anyone, whether it be temptation, weakness, or wrongful desires, and help me to overcome these with Your guidance and strength. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
