Numbers 10:15-16

Strong Tower: A Daily Scripture Reflection

Friday, September 18, 2026

Numbers 10:15-16 NLT
“They were joined by the troops of the tribe of Issachar, led by Nethanel son of Zuar, and the troops of the tribe of Zebulun, led by Eliab son of Helon.”

Unity of faith
In every human setting, including churches, conflict is an unavoidable part of social interaction, arising naturally from diverse perspectives and interests. While Scripture offers limited insights into the intricate interpersonal dynamics among the Israelites, it is reasonable to assume that the people of Israel experienced disagreements and disputes both within their tribes and among different groups, as is common among any diverse community. However, on the day they set out from the wilderness of Sinai, nothing was material more to the Israelites than fulfilling God’s divine will, demonstrating their unwavering devotion and commitment to His commands. The referenced scripture highlights that the troops of Issachar and Zebulun, along with their leaders, voluntarily joined the soldiers of Judah without coercion, emphasizing their willingness and eagerness to participate. Friends, consider whether you are joining your brethren in worshipping God wholeheartedly, with genuine faith and gratitude, or grudgingly out of obligation. Notice that the troops from the tribes of Issachar and Zebulun were not coerced into joining; their decision to align with Judah was a natural and instinctive act, reflecting their shared commitment, unity in faith, and a deep sense of spiritual duty.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that I will not be lackadaisical, but remain diligent and prepared to fulfill every role and responsibility You have assigned me, whether big or small, in service to You. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
