Numbers 10:14 NLT
“Judah’s troops led the way. They marched behind their banner, and their leader was Nahshon son of Amminadab.”
Leadership is not by position
In the referenced scripture, we read that Nahshon, son of Amminadab, led Judah’s troops during a crucial moment in Israel’s history. The Lord didn’t merely provide the leader’s name for record-keeping; the significance of the leader’s name extended beyond that. First, it demonstrates that God keeps His promises. By the time Israel was ready to move forward, there is no indication that Nahshon had become incapacitated; instead he was hale and hearty to discharge his duty. Another important lesson is that Nahshon took his seriously; on the day Judah’s troops set out, he was present to lead the charge. Friends, leadership isn’t about a title or position but about being present and active. Are you always available to fulfill your divine calling wherever God has placed you?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You, Covenant-keeping God. It is my prayer that I will not be a leader by position but by presence, and that I will never be found wanting whenever my presence is needed. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
