Numbers 11:6 NLT
“But now our appetites are gone. All we ever see is this manna!”
Please speak with gratitude
God’s character never changes. His goodness has always been part of who He is, as Psalm 100:5 declares: “The Lord is good, and his love endures forever.” Yet familiarity can sometimes lead us to overlook or mischaracterize His goodness. In the Scripture referenced here, the people indirectly blamed the Lord for their loss of appetite, linking it to His having brought them out of Egypt. They went further and criticized the provision He had given them, saying, “All we ever see is this manna!” Nowhere in the passage do we see the people gathering to thank God for providing the manna. The only time they spoke about it was after they began eating it—and instead of expressing gratitude, they ridiculed it. Friends, when you face a need, do not dismiss or scorn what the Lord has graciously provided, especially if you once had nothing. If you need more or something different, ask without being ungrateful.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please forgive me for the times I have spoken without gratitude or failed to acknowledge the blessings You have given me. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
