Numbers 10:25 NLT
“Dan’s troops went last, marching behind their banner and serving as the rear guard for all the tribal camps. Their leader was Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai.”
Dan’s troops went last
There is no doubt that God was before and ahead of the people of Israel on their journey. Yet the King of Glory still assigned them to different strategic positions whenever they set out for the Promised Land. One tribe was assigned the first position, and the referenced scripture says that Dan’s troops were assigned to leave last. In fact, it was the responsibility of Dan’s troops to serve as a rear guard for the entire tribal camp. What is interesting is that Dan’s troops embraced their position, which is why they all marched behind their banner. Friends, when the Lord asks you to stay at the back, know that there is a reason, but endeavour to perform every task associated with it. Another message is that although Dan’s troops were the last to set out, they were not without protection, for the Lord’s constant presence, in the form of the pillars of cloud and fire, was with them.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me not to abandon the position You have given me, but to carry out every responsibility associated with it joyfully and always for Your glory. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
