Numbers 10:21 NLT
“Next came the Kohathite division of the Levites, carrying the sacred objects from the Tabernacle. Before they arrived at the next camp, the Tabernacle would already be set up at its new location.”
God is not wicked
In life, especially when progress seems confusing or slower than expected, it can be tempting to think that God is acting wickedly. Yet Scripture gives no basis for that conclusion. At first glance, God’s decision not to let the Kohathite division set out alongside the other Levitical clans might seem harsh. But a closer examination reveals the goodness behind the instruction.
The Kohathites had a specific responsibility in caring for the Tabernacle: they were entrusted with transporting the Ark of the Covenant. When they moved the Ark, they carried it on their shoulders; it could not be set down anywhere, but had to be placed within the Tabernacle. Imagine, then, that the Kohathites had left with the other Levitical clans. When those clans reached the next location and began unloading their belongings, the Kohathites would have had to keep carrying the Ark until the Tabernacle was assembled and ready to receive it. Their delayed departure, therefore, was not an act of wickedness but an expression of God’s goodness—a provision that ensured the Ark was handled according to its sacred purpose.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me trust that You are always at work for my good, even when I cannot see how events are unfolding. Give me clarity to recognize Your guidance and patience to rely on Your care. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
