Numbers 10:22 NLT
“Ephraim’s troops went next, marching behind their banner. Their leader was Elishama son of Ammihud.”
Marching behind their banner
We often want to stand out, even within a group whose members share similar traits. Yet the passage about the Ephraimite troops offers a different picture: they marched together behind their designated banner. By following it, each soldier visibly affirmed a shared tribal identity and allegiance. Not one turned aside; every one kept pace behind the same standard. No individual tried to become the tribe’s focal point—the banner represented them all. Friend, your identity is in Christ. Are you following Him, or trying to move ahead and lead Him?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I pray that I will never march ahead of the banner of collective purpose, unity, and uniform identity in Christ Jesus. Amen.
