Numbers 10:17 NLT
“Then the Tabernacle was taken down, and the Gershonite and Merarite divisions of the Levites were next in the line of march, carrying the Tabernacle with them.”

The Tabernacle was taken down
There is no doubt that the people of Israel were eager to set out the moment the cloud over the Tabernacle lifted, which is why Moses did not need to implore them to dismantle their tents and move forward. In the preceding verses, it is noted that Judah’s troops led the expedition as the Lord had directed, followed by Issachar and Zebulun’s troops in accordance with God’s instruction. The scripture also mentions that the Gershonites and Merarite clans of the Levites accompanied them, but not before carefully taking down the Tabernacle’s curtains and poles, a sacred and divine responsibility entrusted only to those specifically chosen for this task. This detail is instructive because they did not become distracted or disorganized in their packing and neglect their divine duty to dismantle the Tabernacle properly, demonstrating their reverence and obedience. Friends, don’t allow the hustling and buzzing of the world to make you forget your duty in God’s kingdom. And when you perform these duties, do it promptly and unto the Lord, who rewards all labour of love. Another lesson is that these Levitical clans didn’t request any extension to get themselves sanctified for the task. The fact that they took down the Tabernacle as soon as it was their turn suggests they were always ready, with hearts prepared and spirits dedicated to serving God without delay.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me always to be ready to carry out Your instruction instantly whenever it is given. May I remain vigilant against anything that could defile me or hinder my ability to stand confidently in Your holy presence. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
