Numbers 10:12 NLT
“So the Israelites set out from the wilderness of Sinai and traveled on from place to place until the cloud stopped in the wilderness of Paran.”
Doers of His word
Having clear instructions is one thing; diligently following them is another. Interestingly, the Israelites demonstrated this trait remarkably well, especially in adhering to the command to set out whenever the cloud over the Tabernacle lifted. Scripture states, “the Israelites set out from the wilderness of Sinai,” which could not have happened unless they had deeply internalized and trusted God’s instructions. Notice that no one stayed behind because everyone relied on God’s guidance, demonstrating complete trust. They also weren’t weary of following the cloud day and night; Scripture says that “[they] traveled on from place to place until the cloud stopped in the wilderness of Paran,” showing their consistent obedience regardless of conditions. Friends, don’t just hear divine instructions; be prepared to act on them with conviction. Just like the Israelites did while in the wilderness—an environment characterized by uncertainty and constant change—it is vital that you remember to translate obedience into tangible action, even when circumstances seem unpredictable or challenging.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, it is not the hearer of Your word that gets commended but doers. I pray that I will always be alert to do Your will on the fly. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
