Numbers 9:4-5 NLT
“So Moses told the people to celebrate the Passover in the wilderness of Sinai as twilight fell on the fourteenth day of the month. And they celebrated the festival there, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.”
Celebrate the Passover in the wilderness of Sinai
When the Lord issued the instruction for the Passover in Exodus 12:14-20, He emphasized that the people of Israel must annually commemorate it, establishing a perpetual memorial. However, in Exodus 13:3-16, Moses informed the Israelites that the tradition of remembrance should begin once they had taken possession of the Promised Land, specifically after crossing the Jordan River and settling in Canaan. A careful examination indicates that Moses’s instruction did not fully align with God’s original command. Conversely, in Numbers 9, God corrected this by instructing Moses to inform the Israelites to celebrate the Passover while they were still in the wilderness of Sinai, before entering the land. From this, we learn several lessons: first, the importance of always allowing God to lead and not presuming to act independently of His guidance; second, the necessity of recognizing and acknowledging God’s past blessings without waiting for perfect circumstances; third, Moses demonstrated humility by not being concerned about potential dissent or confusion among the Israelites, even though the new instructions contradicted his previous messages. Friends, let humility be your hallmark, and never shy away from obeying His instructions, even if they seem to contradict your previous beliefs.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask for Your guidance to lead me consistently in every area of my life, including my decisions, relationships, and daily routines. Please let the Holy Spirit diligently correct me whenever I stray or make mistakes in following Your instructions, ensuring I stay aligned with Your will at all times. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
