Numbers 8:26 NLT
“After retirement they may assist their fellow Levites by serving as guards at the Tabernacle, but they may not officiate in the service. This is how you must assign duties to the Levites.”
Minor, but significant.
Retirement is an inevitable stage for everyone in the workforce. While most people remain uncertain about their post-retirement life and often depend on financial advisors to prepare, this uncertainty did not concern the Levites. God uniquely planned their lives after their years of service, providing them with a clear and stable path. The main lesson is that God takes care of the called, both current needs and future security. Also, God states that the retired Levites could offer support for fellow Levites still in service.
Most importantly, He assigned them to serve as guards at the Tabernacle. Although this role seems minor, its significance is non-negotiable because they help safeguard the Tabernacle from impurity or irrelevance, ultimately preserving its holiness. Friends, if you are unable to participate in the activities others are engaged in, continue to offer your unwavering support and encouragement.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I trust that no one who serves You will be left to suffer. Please lovingly attend to my current needs and those I will face in the future. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
