Numbers 8:2 NLT
“Give Aaron the following instructions: When you set up the seven lamps in the lampstand, place them so their light shines forward in front of the lampstand.”
Give Aaron
The referenced scripture highlights the specific guidance the Lord gave to Moses concerning Aaron, emphasizing the spiritual authority and divine purpose behind this communication. It raises the question of why God chose not to speak directly to Aaron himself, instead opting to relay His messages through Moses. God’s decision to communicate via Moses may have been based on Moses’s unwavering credibility and integrity, as evidenced by his faithfulness since the miraculous encounter at the burning bush, where he was called by God to lead His people. Moses had not given any cause for doubt or mistrust among the Israelites or Aaron, maintaining a consistent record of obedience and righteousness. Had Moses been dishonest or deceitful, God’s trust in him would likely have diminished, and He would have withdrawn His favour. The Psalm 101:7 scripture reinforces this principle, stating, “I will not allow deceivers to serve in my house, and liars will not stay in my presence,” highlighting that our integrity is ultimately our responsibility. Friends, nothing damages our reputation and relationship with God more than our own actions. Therefore, let us diligently and intentionally guard our conduct, ensuring that every declaration we make in the name of the Lord is trustworthy and sincere.
