Numbers 7:89 NLT
“Whenever Moses went into the Tabernacle to speak with the Lord, he heard the voice speaking to him from between the two cherubim above the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement—that rests on the Ark of the Covenant. The Lord spoke to him from there.”
God is always near
In the referenced scripture, we can see reciprocity in action. The scripture states that whenever Moses entered the Tabernacle to speak with the Lord, the Lord was always there to speak to him. Note that Moses had a mission each time he entered the Tabernacle. It wasn’t to behold the gold incense burner or even adore the glamour of the Tabernacle, but to commune with God who sits enthroned among the Cherubim. And because his mission aligned with God, he never returned home disappointed. Friends, as long as your mission for coming to the presence of the Lord is to speak with Him, the outcome is guaranteed. However, if the purpose isn’t in alignment with His, don’t be alarmed if nothing comes out of such an encounter. In other words, God is close to anyone who approaches Him with reverence and for the right reasons. Friends, what is your purpose for gathering with brethren or in church today? Is it to speak with the Lord, for socializing, to close a business deal, or to get to know someone?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I have come to speak with You in prayer. Please speak with me clearly and often, so that our communication becomes a regular and meaningful part of my daily life, not just a one-time encounter. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
