“He also brought a gold container weighing four ounces, which was filled with incense.”
A gold container, not an imitation
Like other tribal leaders, Gamaliel, son of Pedahzur, brought a gold container. Note that Moses didn’t say the container looked like a gold container or that the container was painted gold. Instead, he asserted that it was a gold container, both inside and outside, demonstrating its material purity. Two lessons here for you and me. First, whatever you claim to be or bring will be evaluated, and second, it won’t be evaluated only externally but also internally. So, is the nature of your container the same outward and inwardly? In other words, are you pure inside out? Another insight is that the weight of the gold container was not approximated, but precisely measured at four ounces, indicating careful craftsmanship and accurate measurement. The fact that the measurement of his gold container matched those of other tribal leaders before him underscores Gamaliel’s deliberate intent to maintain uniformity and harmony. Friends, when it comes to glorifying God, are you working in alignment, ensuring your actions and intentions are consistent both outwardly and inwardly?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me to maintain purity both in my heart and in my actions, and graciously allow the fruit of the Spirit—such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—to reside in me and guide my way. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
