During my primary school education, I vividly remember several instances when teachers would instruct us to sit down solely based on the scores we received on tests. Students who scored significantly below average were often singled out and ridiculed in front of the class, which fostered shame and embarrassment. Consequently, writing any assessment became a source of anxiety, as failing to perform well compared to peers could lead to serious social and academic repercussions, including ostracism or criticism from both teachers and classmates.
From the referenced scripture, we can infer that Moses was a leader endowed with admirable qualities worth emulating. For example, when he reported Shelumiel son of Zurishaddai’s offering, he did so without comparing it to the contributions of other tribal leaders of Israel. By choosing not to present his report in relation to others, Moses fostered an environment of fairness and humility. This approach helped prevent feelings of inadequacy or competition from taking root among the tribes. Friends, let us endeavour to promote unity and respect among our fellow believers, avoiding division by treating one another with dignity and understanding.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me in my endeavours so that none create division but all foster unity among brethren. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
