In today’s referenced scripture, we learn about two actions that Moses engaged in, each serving as a valuable lesson for our daily living and walk with our Redeemer. First, the scripture states that Moses took the wagons and oxen, indicating that he did not selectively accept only certain parts, but received everything. This demonstrates his obedience and willingness to follow divine instructions fully.
Taking the wagons might have posed logistical challenges due to space constraints, while the oxen could have raised concerns about their excrement and the associated odour. Despite these potential issues, Moses was neither discouraged nor did he let concerns about space or smell prevent him from obeying God’s command. Instead, he meticulously followed the Lord’s instructions and accepted both the wagons and oxen without hesitation.
The second action Moses took was to present the wagons and oxen to the Levites. Importantly, he did this on the same day he received them, showing a sense of urgency and promptness; had he delayed until the following day, the Bible would have mentioned it. This immediate presentation underscores Moses’s commitment to act on divine directives promptly.
Friends, just as Moses approached his assignments with urgency and respect for God’s instructions, we too should treat any tasks or responsibilities God entrusts to us with the same diligence. Furthermore, Moses did not keep any of the wagons or oxen for himself but ensured they were fully presented to the Levites, demonstrating his contentment and trust in God’s plan.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, please help me to accept what You accept and never hesitate to show urgency in fulfilling the duties You assign to me. May my life reflect contentment in what You have given rather than greed. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
