Numbers 7:35 NLT
“For a peace offering he brought two bulls, five rams, five male goats, and five one-year-old male lambs. This was the offering brought by Elizur son of Shedeur.”
For a peace offering
Elizur bringing two bulls, five rams, five male goats, and five one-year-old male lambs beyond what the Lord specified for a peace offering shows that he took the offering seriously. He went above and beyond because experiencing peace with God is important. Another insight for living is that these items did not confer eternal peace with God, which means this wouldn’t be the last time Elizur needed to perform this kind of offering. We know this because Moses specifically said “For a peace offering,” not “For the peace offering,” which highlights that the exercise isn’t once-and-for-all. In contrast, only through Jesus Christ can believers attain eternal peace with God without personal sacrifice or cost. In Colossians 1:20, Paul states that it was through Jesus’s blood that God made peace with everything in heaven and on earth.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the peace You have generously given me through the blood of the Lamb. Please help me always to cherish and not take it for granted in my endeavour. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
