Numbers 6:27 NLT
“Whenever Aaron and his sons bless the people of Israel in my name, I myself will bless them.”
Whenever Aaron and his sons
Aaron and his sons had a rare and divine access to God, and they were not asked to use it for their own advancement but to bless God’s people directly. Interestingly, they did nothing to earn this privilege; it was granted to them by God’s initiative. Likely, they were unaware of when the Lord was speaking to Moses about them, underscoring the unmerited nature of their calling. Why, then, do you think you need to ‘level the mountain’—or perform grand gestures—before God will listen to you or grant you His attention?
Another key lesson is that God endowed Aaron and his sons with the specific ability to bless the Israelites, a divine gift meant to edify rather than harm. They were expressly forbidden to curse the people, emphasizing the importance of blessing rather than cursing as a mark of true sonship to God.
Furthermore, possessing the capability to bless does not automatically ensure the desired outcome. When blessing the Israelites, Aaron and his sons were instructed to do so solely in the name of the Lord, acknowledging His supreme authority. Friends, our blessings are not valid if invoked in the name of any heavenly being—whether the four living creatures, the twenty-four elders, or mighty angels—but only through the power and authority of the Lord Himself.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly request that You instill in me a continual awareness that all blessings originate solely from Your divine name, and not from any other name on earth or in heaven. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
