Numbers 5:24 NLT
“He will make the woman drink the bitter water that brings on the curse. When the water enters her body, it will cause bitter suffering if she is guilty.”
If she is guilty
Today’s referenced scripture makes a profound statement about divine judgment, emphasizing that God’s position on the matter of marital infidelity is not prejudicial. Instead, it hinges entirely on the accused married woman’s actions and demeanour. The scripture illustrates that, while the woman would be made to drink the bitter water as part of this divine scrutiny, this does not automatically lead to bitter suffering or condemnation. Such suffering arises solely if she is indeed guilty of the accusations against her.
Beloved, it is essential to understand that God does not unjustly label the innocent as guilty or the guilty as innocent. Instead, it is one’s actions, choices, and moral conduct that ultimately dictate the divine verdict. A clear conscience, free of wrongdoing, has nothing to fear from such scrutiny. Therefore, I ask you, beloved: Is your conscience not complicit in wrongdoing? Have you examined your heart and actions in light of divine truth? Reflect on this as you consider your standing before God.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly seek Your guidance as I strive to align my actions with Your will. Please grant me the wisdom and strength to create a space in my life that invites Your abundant blessings and grace. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
