Numbers 5:4 NLT
“So the Israelites did as the Lord had commanded Moses and removed such people from the camp.”

Put God first
Whenever a law enforcement unit is dispatched to conduct operations that may incite retaliation, personnel are typically equipped with protective masks to safeguard their identities and enhance security. The directive to exclude individuals who had skin diseases, bodily discharges, or who had rendered themselves ceremonially unclean by coming into contact with the deceased presents a profound challenge. This is especially true given that, according to scripture, the Israelites removed such individuals from their encampment without masking up or emotional reservations.

It is essential to recognize that those removed were not outsiders or foreigners; they were members of the very tribes of Israel, yet the people who carried out this removal prioritized their commitment to God over personal feelings or familial ties. They understood that to maintain the sanctity of the community, adherence to God’s commandments must come first.

Beloved, it’s crucial to note that proper diligence in safeguarding a community—where God’s presence is honoured—demands that we examine and remove anything that repels God’s presence. Only by placing God at the forefront can one take the difficult steps to address and eliminate harmful ideas and ideologies that contradict His Word, irrespective of the personal cost or who might be affected. Are you deliberate in identifying and discarding such conflicting beliefs, even if they challenge your own connections or convictions?

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask for Your guidance and strength to carry out Your will in my life. Please instill in me the courage to act faithfully, even when it may lead to conflict or retaliation from those who might feel personally affected. Please help me remember that sometimes, in our pursuit of truth and righteousness, the path may come with challenges. Strengthen my resolve to follow Your instruction with unwavering faith, knowing that my actions are ultimately for the greater good. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
