Numbers 5:1-2 NLT
“The Lord gave these instructions to Moses: “Command the people of Israel to remove from the camp anyone who has a skin disease or a discharge, or who has become ceremonially unclean by touching a dead person.”

Everyone has a role to play.
The Lord does not show favouritism. If He did, the guidelines for handling skin diseases, bodily discharges, or becoming ceremonially unclean after contact with a deceased person would have been selectively applied. Instead, the comprehensive nature of these instructions indicates that nobody—regardless of their social standing, economic status, or spiritual authority—can escape the consequences of such conditions. This means that even Moses, Aaron, his sons, and the Levites would be held accountable and removed from the camp if they exhibited these conditions.

Moreover, the enforcement of this removal directive was not the responsibility of the priests or Levites; instead, it was entrusted to the entire community of Israel. This inclusive approach highlights that every individual in the community has a role to play, meaning no one can pretend to be ignorant or ignore the consequences of troubling behaviour. Just as the people of Israel were called to maintain the purity of their community, we too share the responsibility to ensure that our own communities do not tolerate any signs of moral decay or “works of the flesh.” It is essential to recognize that we cannot effectively confront or address the issues around us if we are still entangled in such behaviours ourselves.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, please grant me the wisdom and diligence to perform my duties with integrity and care. I pray that I remain steadfast in my walk with You, avoiding any actions or decisions that could lead me away from Your grace and favour. Help me recognize and avoid endeavours that isolate anyone from Your loving presence. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
