“When their names were recorded, as the Lord had commanded through Moses, each man was assigned his task and told what to carry. And so the registration was completed, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.”
Completed and accepted
Did you know that not all endeavours that get started reach the finish line? In Genesis 11, we read about humanity’s ambitious project: the construction of the Tower of Babel. This initiative was ultimately disrupted and abandoned because it contravened God’s divine plan to spread humanity across the Earth.
On the other hand, when we turn to the Book of Numbers, we see a different narrative regarding the census of the Levites led by Moses. This census was not merely Moses’s initiative or bureaucratic exercise; God Himself divinely mandated it. Unlike the Tower of Babel, this endeavour was brought to completion because Moses aligned his efforts with the Lord’s instructions. Beloved, it is crucial to engage yourself in initiatives that the Lord calls you to undertake. When you perform these tasks according to His guidance, you can be assured that they will be completed successfully, as they are rooted in divine purpose.
Another noteworthy aspect of the census involves the specific figures for each Levitical clan—the Kohathites, Gershonites, and Merarites. These numbers were not disputed but were accepted by the entire community as accurate. Beloved, endeavour to be upright in the discharge of your divinely assigned duties so that Y(our) Father in heaven can receive all the glory.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask for Your divine grace to guide me in the completion of every task You have entrusted to me. Please grant me the strength and wisdom to fulfill these responsibilities with diligence, ensuring they are carried out in perfect alignment with Your intentions and specifications. Help me to remain focused and faithful, so that my efforts reflect Your glory and serve a greater purpose in accordance with Your will. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
