“also the posts for the courtyard walls with their bases, pegs, and ropes; and all the accessories and everything else related to their use. Assign the various loads to each man by name.”
Comprehensive stewardship
The referenced scripture offers a profound insight into the responsibilities entrusted to the Merarite men aged 30 to 50. In this passage, the Lord delineated several sacred items for which these men were to take care. However, He also grouped other items under the phrase “everything else related to their use.” This suggests that just because certain items were not individually listed, it does not mean that any unmentioned object can be overlooked or disregarded.
One might wonder why the Lord chose not to explicitly itemize every item in the inventory. However, know that if such omissions were to lead to confusion or misunderstanding, the Lord wouldn’t have lumped them together. This lumping suggests that the I AM WHO I AM possessed a deep understanding of the Merarite’s knowledge and capabilities, implying that they are aware of every item.
Beloved, whether responsibilities are spelled out or lumped together, be ready and willing not to overlook any. Neglecting any known duty simply because it is not written in black and white can lead to gaps in one’s service and diminish one’s reputation. Therefore, let us strive to remain vigilant and comprehensive in our stewardship, ensuring we fulfil all our responsibilities.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask for the wisdom to discern and understand all the responsibilities and tasks that are intricately linked to my duty in Your presence. Please guide me in recognizing each aspect that requires my attention so that I may fulfill these duties with diligence and integrity, and more importantly, for Your glory alone and always, all the days of life. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
