Numbers 4:18 NLT
“Do not let the Kohathite clans be destroyed from among the Levites!”

Love one another
We live in a world where individual pursuits often take precedence over communal well-being, reflecting a mindset that prioritizes personal needs and desires. However, as children of God, we are called to rise above this self-centred attitude and embrace a spirit of service and responsibility towards one another.

In the referenced scripture, God commanded Moses and Aaron to ensure the protection of the Kohathites. This divine mandate raises an important question: Who would care for the children of Moses and Aaron, as well as the Levitical clan from which they came, when they are focused on serving others? One would be worried about their interests if they believe their interests’ needs can be met through their own efforts.

Having Moses and Aaron look after the Kohathites does not imply that their own children would be left vulnerable or without care. The responsibility to oversee the Kohathite clan was non-negotiable; failing to fulfill this duty would leave everyone stranded. Without the Kohathite clan, the Tabernacle could not move when the camp moved.

Beloved, it’s essential to reflect on our own actions. Are you not wondering who will pray for you and your needs when you dedicate your prayer time to others? Consider the boy who offered five loaves and two fish; the scripture does not indicate that he regretted his decision – a decision that the Holy Spirit likely inspired. Similarly, when the Holy Spirit inspires you to take care of God’s business, and you do so, you will never experience regret or loss.

Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask for Your guidance and strength as I strive to be selfless in all my actions and interactions within Your vineyard. Please help me set aside my personal desires and ambitions and focus instead on serving others with kindness and compassion. May my contributions be a true reflection of Your love, and may I always prioritize the needs of those around me, embodying the spirit of selflessness in every endeavour I undertake for Your glory. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
