Numbers 4:17 NLT
“The Lord said to Moses and Aaron,”

The relational God
The frequency with which God communicated with Moses and Aaron was significant, and it wasn’t because there were no others with whom He could relate. The I AM WHO I AM continually spoke with them because Moses and Aaron were always attentive to hear His voice. Another likely reason is that the Lord does not abandon His relationship with His people, but if there seems to be a disconnect, it is never God’s fault. Remember, if there is a gap between God and man, it is certain that God has not moved—rather, it is man who has. His Word states, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”

Therefore, we must ensure we do not disregard anything that strengthens our close relationship with God. Just as Paul encouraged the believers in Philippi in Philippians 4:8, saying, “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing: Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honourable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise;” we too should follow this guidance. These practices help us maintain clean hands and a pure heart—qualities that God seeks in anyone who desires His blessings (Psalm 24:4).

Prayer
Heavenly Father, You are a relational God. I pray that I will be mindful of my actions and choices, seeking not to engage in any behaviour that might create a barrier between us or disrupt our relationship. If there are specific activities or habits in my life that hinder my closeness to You, I ask for Your guidance and strength to help me recognize and eliminate them. Please open my eyes to the areas that need change and fill my heart with the desire to draw nearer to You, so that our bond may grow ever stronger. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
