Numbers 4:12 NLT
“They must take all the remaining furnishings of the sanctuary and wrap them in a blue cloth, cover them with fine goatskin leather, and place them on the carrying frame.”
Valued by the Lord
There is a universal experience shared by everyone when moving from one dwelling to another: we seldom take every single item with us. Typically, we choose to leave behind non-essential belongings, as we deem them unnecessary for our new space. However, a notable contrast is presented in the referenced scripture, where the Lord explicitly commands that nothing must be left behind whenever the camp of the people of Israel moves in the wilderness.
In this context, Aaron and his sons were instructed to meticulously prepare and transport sacred objects, ensuring that even lesser-known items were handled with the same reverence as the more prominent ones. This detail illustrates that every item, regardless of its perceived significance, is valued by the Lord.
The underlying lesson here is profound: if the Lord demonstrates such care and attention to sacred objects that might easily be overlooked, how much more deeply would He concern Himself for you and me—beings created in His own image and likeness? This perspective encourages us to reflect on our worth in the eyes of the Creator, highlighting the importance of recognizing our inherent value and the profound care that the Lord extends toward each of us.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I find comfort in knowing that You cherish “the remaining furnishings” of the Tabernacle. Just as You pay attention to these details, I am reassured that I, whom You have lovingly called by name, am never overlooked or forgotten in Your eyes. I am deeply grateful, Father. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
