Numbers 4:11 NLT
“Next they must spread a blue cloth over the gold incense altar and cover this cloth with fine goatskin leather. Then they must attach the carrying poles to the altar.”
Immunity comes from the Lord alone
In accordance with specific instructions regarding the disassembly of the Tabernacle during the movement of the camp, the Lord mandated that a blue cloth be carefully spread over the gold incense altar. This cloth was then to be covered with a layer of fine goatskin leather, serving an important purpose. One may wonder about the significance of the blue cloth used to cover sacred objects and the choice of fine goatskin leather as a protective barrier.
Although the Lord did not explicitly state that the blue cloth has any inherent spiritual power over these sacred items, its repeated use highlights a profound principle. The blue colour, often associated with divinity and the heavenly realm, likely signifies the altar’s holiness and its vital role in worship. The fine goatskin leather, chosen for its durability and resilience, protects against harsh elements such as rain, intense sunlight, sand, and the temperature fluctuations typical of desert environments.
This choice indicates that, while these sacred objects have significant spiritual purposes, they are not immune to natural forces like corrosion or wear. They require careful handling and protection to maintain their integrity during transport. However, the blood of Jesus requires no one’s input to maintain its integrity or power. It can address all trials and tribulations that anyone might encounter. Therefore, let us strive to fully rely on its eternal power and grace, confident in the protection and redemption it provides.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, in times of uncertainty and temptation, please guide me to remember that my protection resides solely in You and not any colour. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
