Numbers 4:10 NLT
“Then they must cover the lampstand and its accessories with fine goatskin leather and place the bundle on a carrying frame.”
Consistent faithfulness and respect
God’s love is profoundly reflected in every instruction given to His people. When God commanded Aaron and his sons to cover the lampstand and its accessories with fine goatskin leather, rather than with a transparent material, He was not merely highlighting the importance of preservation; He was emphasizing the sacredness of His presence.
Previously, God had made it clear that anyone outside of Aaron and his sons who dared to look upon these sacred objects would face dire consequences—specifically, death. This warning was not a mere threat; it was a testament to the holiness of God and the seriousness with which He desires His people to approach Him. By asking Aaron and his sons to cover them, it indicates that He wouldn’t want the Kohathites or any Israelite to be vulnerable to violating this command. Through this instruction, God illustrated that reverence and obedience to His instructions are not just for a moment but must be observed irrespective of whether the camp is stationary or in motion.
Likewise, this calls for unwavering commitment, regardless of whether one’s life feels settled or tumultuous. In essence, God’s instructions are timeless. They must be diligently followed at all times, reminding us that our relationship with Him requires consistent faithfulness and respect, regardless of our external circumstances.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I humbly ask for Your guidance and strength to remain steadfast in my obedience to You, no matter what challenges or blessings each season of my life may bring. In times of joy, help me to remember to honour You with gratitude, and in times of struggle, grant me the faith to trust in Your plan. May my heart always seek to follow Your will, reflecting Your love and purpose in everything I do. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
