Leviticus 9:24 NLT
“Fire blazed forth from the Lord’s presence and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. When the people saw this, they shouted with joy and fell face down on the ground.”
‭‭
No need for a lighter
The scripture reveals that the ways of God are far beyond human comprehension. In the book of Leviticus, chapter 8, it is revealed that Moses offered a burnt sacrifice, but he ignited it. However, a miraculous event occurred when Aaron, who had observed and learned the process from Moses, offered the same sacrifice. Fire blazed from the Lord’s presence and consumed the offering and the fat on the altar. Interestingly, Moses showed no signs of displeasure or disappointment towards the Lord for not performing the same act during his own presentation.

The Lord likely used the fire to indicate Aaron’s meticulousness and attention to detail in his deliveries. This is a valuable reminder for us to always be thorough and diligent in carrying out our tasks before the Lord, for He sees and notes everything. When all is aligned and in order, the Lord will validate it, just as He did for Aaron. Aaron did not need to light up the offering himself, as the Lord did it for him. While such validation may not lead to grand fanfare or recognition, it always brings us closer to Him in worship and devotion.

Finally, through this miraculous event and subsequent ones, Elijah understood that the Lord answers with fire. Friends, every action we take in the present has future implications.

Dear God, I desire to carry out all divine instructions diligently. Please help me. As long as I follow Your will, let Your mark of approval be with me. In Jesus’s name, Amen.
