Leviticus 20:21 NLT
“If a man marries his brother’s wife, it is an act of impurity. He has violated his brother, and the guilty couple will remain childless.”
An act of impunity
The celebration of marriage symbolizes a significant commitment eagerly anticipated by the couple and their loved ones. It is a thoughtful and intentional occasion that necessitates thorough preparation in advance.
Traditionally, before the wedding ceremony, it is customary for the families of the bride and groom to give their blessings to the union. However, as referenced in today’s scripture, it is not only the families’ approval that is vital, but also the divine sanction from God. Even if society and everyone else may approve, if the marriage does not align with God’s definition, it will not be recognized, as God is the originator of the institution of marriage.
The context of the union mentioned in the scripture makes it clear that the Lord does not endorse it. The scripture explicitly states that such a union is a transgression, and those involved show no regard for the consequences. What makes anyone to act with impunity? Perhaps, the feelings of being untouchable. Friends, do not make music you are not willing to dance to at all times, regardless of the tempo. The act of impunity expressed in the referenced scripture has an unending consequence. Therefore stay guided.

Dear Heavenly Father, I ask for Your help not to willfully engage in any act of impunity. In Jesus’s name, amen.
