Leviticus 18:8 NLT
“Do not have sexual relations with any of your father’s wives, for this would violate your father.”
No to forbidden act
When God instructed Moses to tell the people of Israel not to adopt the practices of the lands they left and the one they were going to, it was not because He hated the inhabitants of the two locations; rather, it was because their practices were abominable and despicable. Each verse following Leviticus 18:3 reveals the vile acts that the inhabitants of Egypt and Canaan practiced. They saw nothing wrong with engaging in sexual relations with their father’s wives – it was a way of life for them. Otherwise, why would a son desire his stepmother? It all boils down to a lack of the fear of God. Dear friends, there are times when people follow what is popular or what everyone else is doing for various reasons. As children of God, we must never embrace any tradition or doctrine that contradicts God’s principles.
Prayer
Dear God, please help me resist conforming to the world’s standards but always align with Yours in every aspect. I pray this in Jesus’s name. Amen.
